Light a Candle
Frances Loretta Hooks was born in Tatums, Oklahoma in the year 1914, under the loving care of her parents James and Louise Hooks.
Frances was the second eldest of ten children, three boys and seven girls.
As the eldest daughter, she was often responsible for the care and teaching of her younger siblings which included cooking, bathing, schooling, cleaning and washing their clothes. She also helped to instill a zest for life and a yearning to explore within her siblings.
These skills among others would serve as the catalyst that shaped her life for years to come.
